Safety Darian Stewart was fined $18,231 for his helmet-to-helmet hit to Newton’s head late in the fourth quarter that was penalized, according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan.

Stewart felt his hit on Newton was not even worthy of a flag, as he said post-game: “I thought I got him with my shoulder, too”.
The NFL admitted Marshall’s hit, in which he planted his feet before launching with his helmet directly into Newton’s, should’ve been penalized.
Newton was bludgeoned by the Denver Broncos defense during the team’s Week 1 loss to the defending champs.
“No, I don’t think so. We’re dwelling on something that I don’t want to dwell on”, Newton said Wednesday at Bank of America Stadium after a few questions on the topic.
Blandino said quarterbacks lose protection when they transition from passing threat to running threat.
The Carolina Panthers (0-1) look to get their first win of the season in their home opener against the San Francisco 49ers (1-0) on Sunday. I’ve seen hits in the past where guys kind of stumble.
“Listen, I see where this is going”, Newton said.
“I’m anxious about winning”, Newton said.
Wolfe said Miller was in a full Nelson wrestling hold on one play and Carolina wasn’t whistled for holding. “I didn’t think you had to have seniority to get a personal foul or anything like that”.
For almost 30 seconds, Newton stayed down as he recovered from a vicious helmet-to-helmet blow by Darian Stewart – Newton’s fourth such violent collision that game. “So we’re going to continue to play football”. It’s no secret that Panther players and fans believe that Cam receives unequal treatment from National Football League officials.
Cam Newton’s heart might be in the right place, but his head is a different issue altogether.

Whether planned or not, Newton’s decision to say little about the hits Wednesday seems smart. “If it were a 5-yard penalty on the offense, say it was an illegal formation or an illegal shift, that 5-yard penalty would go away and only the 15-yard personal foul would be enforced”. In 2015, he would do it again, leading his team to Super Bowl 50, and being named the 2015 MVP.
