The attack has sparked the fire service into issuing safety advice, with the lighting of fireworks set to become more prevalent in the run up to Bonfire Night on Thursday, November 5.

Firefighters say this period is their busiest time of the year, with Bradford district crews receiving the most callouts across West Yorkshire between November 1 and 9, 2014.
Firefighters in Wakefield are urging people to stay safe this bonfire season.
“We want everyone to have fun and stay safe so make sure your “tricks” don’t go too far”.
“We want everyone taking part in celebrations to enjoy them but to do safely and responsibly for themselves and for others”. It’s best for groups to visit the homes of friends or neighbours instead of strangers.
Officers will again will travelling on Cardiff Bus routes where there has been a history of anti-social behaviour.
“Committing anti-social behaviour can lead to a fine, a criminal behaviour order and ultimately prison if offences are committed”.
Assistant Chief Officer, Dave Walton, Director of Service Delivery, said, “West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is fully supportive of the campaign to make fancy dress outfits safer for children to wear, following the bad incident involving the daughter of presenter Claudia Winkleman a year ago”.
Keighley Central ward councillor Zafar Ali described any deliberate attempts to use fireworks dangerously as “disgraceful and uncivilised”, and added: “Human lives are at stake, it’s a very serious matter”.
“Halloween and Bonfire Night should not provide an excuse for anyone to roam the streets harassing and victimising people and motorists”. You’re far safer attending an organised bonfire event but if you decide to have your own fireworks, please take a few precautions to stay safe.
The fire service advises the public to never throw fireworks; stand well back and never go back to a firework once it’s been lit; never put fireworks in pockets; buy fireworks from a properly licensed outlet and keep them in a closed box; light fireworks at arm’s length using a taper and never a naked flame; and never give sparklers to children under five.

“However, we are also reminding those people who buy fireworks for private displays, to always rigorously follow the Fireworks Code and abide by the Firework’s Regulations”.
