In the trailer, gamers can see zombies, giant spears being hurled towards the player from an unseen force, and a attractive courtyard that houses one of the more grotesque big bads the series has ever seen. Given Bloodborne’s 2015 Game Awards nomination in art direction, that’s certainly not a bad thing. Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition will include a 10-inch Red Knight statue among other goodies, while the Prestige Edition will be exclusive to Amazon.co.uk and will include a enormous Lord of Cinder resin figurine. It contains a metal case, three iron-on patches, collector’s box, 25cm Red Knight figurine, A4 hardcover artbook, cloth game map, soundtrack and the game. With a character that is reminiscent of one of the first real bosses in Dark Souls 2, but on a more complex scale it appears to be a tree like creature with something even more sinister hidden inside. The Day One Edition available in the USA will include Dark Souls III software, a starter guide, an official soundtrack and exclusive O-Sleeve packaging, the flexible case that is open on both ends. The publisher revealed the date alongside a new trailer, which is just about as badass as you’d expect.

Bandai Namco confirms Dark Souls 3 will arrive on April 12, 2016. Does the gameplay look better or worse?

A Dark Souls III Day One release will be available to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners who pre-order in North America.
