Darrell Issa Grills Loretta Lynch in House Hearing on Clinton Emails
On Monday, the two lawmakers sent a letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation recommending the Washington, DC Attorney General look into Clinton’s 2015 testimony to see whether or not she lied before Congress. “‘The politically connected Hillary Clinton, we won’t charge her'”.

And, in keeping with Clinton’s reputation for volubility, Lynch says that the conversation lasted longer than she had anticipated. After the meeting became public, she made an unusual pledge not to influence the Justice Department probe and to let stand the recommendations of career investigators and prosecutors in the case.
Lynch referred questions about why the department decided not to bring charges to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
With regard to Democratic Party talking points – for example, that the FBI’s Comey will rescind his statements about Clinton’s suspected criminal actions – former Attorney General Michael Mukasey said, “I was particularly distressed to hear that he [Director Comey] said there was no intention to violate the law when the laws involved don’t require an intention to violate the law”.
The announcement immediately drew criticism from Republicans and raised concerns that Clinton was treated on a double standard.
“Why was this meeting, particularly in light of your previous appointment by President Clinton [to a position of USA attorney in New York], not grounds for recusing yourself?” he asked.
Goodlatte and House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, on Monday asked the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia to investigate whether Hillary Clinton lied to Congress in testimony about her email. The same poll found that a majority of Americans disapproved of FBI Director James Comey’s recommendation not to pursue criminal charges following the Bureau’s investigation.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch deflected questions about the department’s inquiry into Clinton’s use of a private email system while she was secretary of state, an issue that has hounded her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. “You really didn’t, but you did”, Gowdy listed off as examples.
“The ostensible objective of the requested discovery is to determine whether this Court should compel Secretary Clinton to produce her @clintonemail.com account (including any personal e-mail) from her private e-mail server equipment to the State Department for further searching in response to Judicial Watch’s FOIA request”, Clinton’s lawyers wrote. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, strenuously criticized Lynch over the investigation’s outcome, charging that it “does not seem to be a responsible way to uphold your constitutionally sworn oath”.
Representatives were looking for more information following FBI Director James Comey’s four-hour testimony on Hillary Clinton’s email investigation last week.
Lynch was more than happy to play along.
Lynch is testifying Tuesday before the House Judiciary Committee following a week of violence that brought that issue to the forefront.
Before beginning his questioning of Lynch, Gohmert took moment to express “outrage” at his Democrat colleagues’ used the hearing to insinuate that Republicans do not care that five police officers had been killed in Dallas last week.
But Mr. Comey, a former prosecutor and top Justice Department official himself, said Mrs. Clinton was too unsophisticated to understand the technology or the classification system for him to prove she meant to mishandling the information – and he concluded no prosecutor could make a case.

One day later, Lynch announced the Justice Department’s decision to end the investigation with no criminal charges after her meeting with Comey.
