Darren Sammy brought in an air of positivity: Curtly Ambrose
Castries (St. Lucia), April 6: The West Indies T20 cricket captain Darren Sammy has expressed delight at the decision of the St. Lucia government to re-name the Beausejour Cricket Ground after him following the exploits of the team in the just concluded World T20 in India.

Sammy too was thrilled with the news, thanking St Lucians for their support, “I am truly honoured, I am humbled and blessed”.
Darren Sammy’s leadership skills have been praised by both fans and former players and his role in taking West Indies to their second ICC T20 World Cup 2016 title has been recognised by his home country.
West Indies star batsman Carlos Brathwaite has offered his sympathy to shattered England all-rounder Ben Stokes, whose last over saw the Caribbean batsman hitting four consecutive sixes to steer his side to their second World Twenty20 title at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. “He has been an inspirational leader and brought in an air of positivity in the team”, he said.
West Indies skipper Darren Sammy also spoke about their problems with the board, after the team defeated England in the final.
Remember, this is the same team that has been facing massive resistance their Cricket Board. I didn’t even face a ball and he had so much to say to me that I know I had to be right there at the end, again.
“… The president has pledged to inquire the reason and will have the matter addressed”.
In a scathing attack on the WICB, West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has called the board “most unprofessional” and its president Dave Cameron an “immature”, “small-minded”, “arrogant” person, who he believes is at “personal war” with his own players. In what was arguably the most exciting finals of the nine year event, West Indies entered the last over requiring 19 runs for victory.
KOLKATA: Man-of-the-match Marlon Samuels taunted Australia spin legend Shane Warne after his unbeaten 85 set the West Indies up for a sensational World Twenty20 title triumph on Sunday.
“A lot of people come down on the players; they questioned our commitment; they questioned whether we really committed to West Indies cricket or is it just the money?”

Earlier, the WICB, in a release, had described Sammy’s comments as “inappropriate” and promised an investigation with a view to taking necessary action.
