America’s first image of Chelsea Clinton was as a curly-haired preteen girl with braces who shied away from the public stage while her father was president in the 1990s.

Chelsea Clinton took the stage of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday to portray her mother Hillary Clinton as a loving, smart and playful woman qualified to be elected president of the United States.
Despite their two very different backgrounds and that their families are pitted in a bitter and personal war for the White House, Ivanka and Chelsea are friends.
With her speech tonight, Chelsea is hoping to get her point across effectively, saying, “I really wish – I hope, I pray – that at the end of my few minutes, people across the country will understand, even a little bit more about why I’m so proud to be my mother’s daughter”. When Hillary had to travel, Chelsea said, she would leave notes behind for every day she was gone. She is married to Mezvinsky, the son of former Iowa Rep. Edward Mezvinsky and Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, a former member of Congress from Pennsylvania. Ivanka says they last saw each other to meet each other’s most recent child, both of whom were born in the last four months.
“I think it’s important that all of us who don’t feel like Mr. Trump’s rhetoric of sexism and racism and islamophobia and anti-immigrant hatred and stance has no place in our country”, she said while holding a rare gaggle with reporters in Indianapolis in April.
Like Chelsea, Ivanka, a 34-year-old mother-of-three, introduced her father when he received the Republican nomination at last week’s GOP convention in Cleveland. She has fully embraced being a Clinton and is now deliberately, willfully, on the road to greatness, “Vanity Fair wrote in a profile previous year”.
“People ask me, all the time, how does she do it?”
Attending Stanford University in California brought Chelsea temporary reprieve from the limelight- until her sophomore year during the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
But it was studded with the kind of anecdotes that can’t be faked: Chelsea chattering to her parents about A Wrinkle in Time, for example, and the importance of family movie night during the bruising battle over health care in the summer of 1994.

Ivanka was 10 years old when her father’s relationship with Marla Maples ended in a bad, public divorce, and Chelsea was a teenager when her father’s White House affair with Monica Lewinsky made headlines. Of her children, she gushed, “We’re so blessed – they’re healthy, they’re thriving”. The women spoke about the love they had for their parent’s, but more importantly revealed details about how Donald and Hillary acted behind the scenes.
