Daughter of Legendary Musician Nat ‘King’ Cole Pronounced Dead
She studied Psychology in college at the University of MA and sang in clubs on weekends, where she was billed as Nat King Cole’s daughter.

Cole’s publicist confirmed the news shortly after and said, “It is with heavy hearts that we bring to you all the news of our Mother and sister’s passing”. As a young stand-up comic I opened for Natalie Cole. He’s NPR Music’s R&B expert.
The Grammy-winning singer, who had longstanding health issues including complications from a kidney transplant, died on New Year’s Eve at a Los Angeles hospital. Cole, the daughter of jazz legend Na… “Instead of dancing around the stage, maybe I’ll just walk elegantly”, she said.
Foster, who knew her for more than 25 years, says she was a professional who believed the show must always go on.
The success of “Unforgettable” capped her comeback after a dark period of heroin, crack and alcohol abuse. Truly “Unforgettable”. My sympathies and condolences to her family. This came in 1975.
Backed by the writing-producing team of Chuck Jackson and Marvin Yancy, she followed with such hits as “Our Love” and “I’ve Got Love on My Mind”, and by 1979 had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
COLE: (Singing) This will be an everlasting love. “I have (pop-rock band) Maroon 5 on my phone as one of my ring tones”. I will forever love your music. ‘Unforgettable in every way….’ That you are, Natalie, that you are.
She was first nominated for numerous Grammy Awards in 1976 and has been a constant contestant for the honour over the years. However, she rose into her own musical fame during the 1970’s with her first album “Inseparable”, in 1975 (winning two Grammys). Which of her songs or albums is your favorite?
“We will miss her like insane”.
Cole initially struggled with success, battling a devastating cocaine addiction until her manager sent her “kicking and screaming” to drug rehab in 1983, the singer recalled. (Cole’s then-husband, musician/producer/arranger André Fischer, was a key collaborator on both recordings.) A third collection showcasing standards, Stardust, arrived in 1996, featuring another posthumous duet with the elder Cole, When I Fall In Love.
Cole headlined a free concert at Taste of Chicago, and 2013 she performed a double-bill with Ramsey Lewis at Ravinia. “I had to hold back the tears”, she said.
CORNISH: And yet, she did, right, Jason King? In it, she detailed how the love of someone who had remained anonymous had given her a kidney, a gift of love that had given her life back when she was on the brink of death. She recorded the song “Pink Cadillac”, which was a big hit, I think, in 1988. At a concert in Atlanta in June, Cole sang a “duet” with her father, crooning “Unforgettable” along with the original vocals.
While on tour, in between performances, she underwent dialysis treatments three times a week. The same morning, her sister, Cookie, passed away from cancer.
“I am sorry to hear about Natalie Cole’s passing”.
She was nominated for an Emmy award in 1992 for a televised performance of her father’s songs.
Oh no not Natalie Cole!!!!!

“That was really my thank you”, she told People magazine in 2006. But her legacy remains, well, unforgettable. “Yet her music also expressed a desire to transcend the mere workings of history and rather to seek to commune with eternity”, he said. What an incredible woman, a loving. joyful & peaceful soul. But it’s also autobiographical.
