Hawes, 50, was dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office identified 50-year-old Wayne Anthony Hawes as a suspect in the shootings.

Hawes is suspected of killing two men and three women in two separate shootings in Appling, Georgia on Friday.

“She said the road late on Friday was teeming with police officers, some of them with assault rifles”.

They also uncovered evidence that had had unsuccessfully attempted to set his house on fire.

One woman died on the way to the hospital, according to Shedd.

The victims found at the home on Johnson Drive were identified as Roosevelt Burns, 75, Rheva Mae Dent, 85, and Kelia Clark, 31.

Murray says she thought Hawes was a nice guy, but said he made a “stupid” decision.

The man’s daughter, Lauren Hawes, said she hid with her 1-year-old daughter and described her father as a “ticking time bomb”.

Murray says she would see him around the neighborhood and he would often say hello while passing by.

The shootings occurred about 40 minutes apart, police said. A day before the brutal slayings, Hawes threatened to kill his estranged spouse, Lauren Hawes said. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office called the incident domestic related. Lizzy Williams, 59, and Shelly Williams, 62, were fatally shot in another, police said.
