Long before alter egos and wild outfits became commonplace in pop, Bowie turned the music world upside down with the release of the 1972 album, “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” which introduced one of musics most famous personas.

“It was then that I realized that it may be the last time I would see him”, he said.

Take just the opening lines to “Moonage Daydream”, for instance: “I’m an alligator / I’m a mama-papa coming for you / I’m a space invader / I’ll be a rock “n” rolling bitch for you”.

His producer Tony Visconti wrote on social media: “He always did what he wanted to do”.

Adding: “Naturally, we wish to honour his extraordinary life and work at the forthcoming Brit Awards and pay a fitting tribute to one of our greatest icons”.

“The unexpected death of David Bowie has made this tribute to him into a memorial concert”, organizers wrote on the concert’s official website.

Two days before his death, he celebrated his 69th birthday, on the same day releasing his last album Blackstar.

Three retrospectives of his work and three original albums have all broken into the Top 40.

According to The Guardian, music streaming service Spotify have reported that global streams of Bowie’s music are up 2,822% since his death was announced on Monday, with a total of over 6.5 million hits.

“Not only was David a passionate supporter of my career but more importantly a very special person in my life”. “Sometimes, he sent me an e-mail – “I’ve had a bad day” – but he was very close to the whole process”. He went on to say that “it was written that he looked so well, so healthy”, but he knew that his heath was deteriorating.

“His star will shine in the sky for ever”, said McCartney.

NEW YORK — David Bowie, the chameleon-like star who transformed the sound — and the look — of rock with his audacious creativity and his sexually ambiguous makeup and costumes, died of cancer Sunday. “He was loved by everybody and you felt he loved us”.

“We had so many good times together”.

Madonna dedicated a song to the late musician as she performed in Houston, Texas, as part of her Rebel Heart tour on Tuesday evening.

MTV inferred that David Bowie may have written and recorded “Blackstar” during his 18-month battle with cancer.
