Celebrity Big Brother viewers have hit out at Channel 5 for “insensitively” showing a clip of Angie Bowie being told about her ex-husband’s death.

“I send my deepest sympathies to his family and will always remember the great laughs we had through the years”. “With his passing, I’m so very sad”.

Through tears she later added: “Stardust is gone”.

Hours after the world found out about the death of icon David Bowie, Channel producers informed his former wife in the diary room.

Viewers criticised the programme on Twitter, claiming it exploited her grief. “Last night’s preview of the upcoming programme included footage of Angie in the diary room after she had heard the news about her ex-husband”.

And having noticed that some of Bowie’s lyrics appeared to reference his own death, Visconti – who had known for some time about the singer’s illness – said he told him: “You canny b******”. “And I’m going to miss you”.

“Obviously when Big Brother was talking to her and asking questions, it is emotional”.

‘She has taken the decision to continue in the programme. “She had no pressure”. “Sweet memories will stay with us forever”.

“I’m not sure what disgusts me more”.

But behind the scenes, Bowie was quietly telling a different story.

The former couple were estranged after their divorce and had not spoken in more than 40 years, Angie revealed on the show. Because of that, there’s been a worldwide outpouring of grief from those mourning his death, starting with a tweet by his son Duncan Jones, whose mother is Angela Bowie.
