An official statement issued on Bowie’s social media accounts yesterday evening said: “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer”.

Visconti produced Bowie’s final album Blackstar, which was released on January 8 – the singer’s 69th birthday.
The final pictures in the ever-evolving looks of David Bowie were taken by his longtime photographer Jimmy King, the Daily Mail reported. Visconti was Bowie’s producer throughout his entire career, starting with Bowie’s 1969 album “Space Oddity” up through “Blackstar”.
SiriusXM has announced that it will launch The David Bowie Channel to pay tribute to and commemorate the life and music of the innovative music pioneer David Bowie.
He explained his wishes to his family and wife Iman, 60, about what should happen after his death. I was one of the first people to encounter him in the studio since I arrived first.
“That’s the way I felt it. I admire him a lot, and it was hard sometimes but you could feel he suffered from it – he didn’t want to die, he wanted to go on”.
Portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz said Bowie “curated his death” with the album and his USA musical Lazarus.
Bowie’s son, film director Duncan Jones, confirmed news of his father’s death Monday with a short message on Twitter and has not commented further. He has been part of our life for 40 years.

“It was immediately clear it was very serious”, says van Hove, who kept his promise and didn’t disclose the information to anyone else before Bowie’s death. He said: “Sometimes he sent me an email – “I’ve had a bad day” – but he was very close to the whole process”. He will always be with us. “It ended with this sentence, “Thank you for our good times, Brian. they will never rot”, Eno said. “And it was signed ‘Dawn.’ I realize now he was saying goodbye”.
