A memorial concert has also been planned in David’s honour in New York’s Carnegie Hall in March. According to various sources within Bowie’s inner circle, the rock icon was suffering from liver cancer and allegedly had experienced six heart attacks in his final years.

Sir Mick said: “David was always an inspiration to me and a true original”.

Tickets went on sale to the public on Monday at 9 a.m. EST, as news of Bowie’s death after an 18-month battle with cancer were confirmed. “We wanted to take a second here and look back at a few of the fun moments I had with David Bowie over the years”.

He said the star told him, “We have to work together very intensely for the next year and I want you to know, if I can not be there, why that is”.

The news of David Bowie’s tragic death has sent fans flocking to buy his incredible new album Blackstar – with the record now selling out on vinyl. “It was then that I realized that it may be the last time I would see him”. In Britain, the Official Charts Company said “Blackstar” was on course to top the weekly list and predicted that 13 more of Bowie’s albums would re-enter the top 100.

There are reports that Elton John may be writing a song to memorialize Bowie, just as he did when Princess Diana died, creating the song “Candle In the Wind”. “And his energy was still incredible for a man who had cancer”.
