A source told the Daily Mirror: “There is no public or private service or a public memorial”.

“The cast didn’t know all that time, and I suspect that the musicians with whom he recorded “Blackstar” didn’t know either. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief”.

The veteran rocker, who succumbed to cancer on Sunday after an 18-month battle, is set to unseat Adele’s “25” for the top-selling album on Billboard’s hot 200. He would have wanted to just disappear with no fuss, no big show, no fan-fare.

Believe it or not, if Blackstar does indeed debut at the top of the album chart, it will mark David Bowie’s very first #1 album in the States.

While Iman has yet to publicly comment on the death of her beloved husband, she has reposted in recent days, several touching messages to mark his 69th birthday, which happened on Friday.

The late David Bowie spent the last months of his life dedicated to the works of art he would leave behind, including Blackstar, his off Broadway stage production Lazarus, and two music videos aptly titled “Blackstar” and “Lazarus“.

David Bowie “curated his death” with his final album Blackstar and his United States musical Lazarus, according to portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz. Icons including Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Kanye West have shared how the artist inspired them with his willingness to incorporate various musical genres into his music and performance.

“You know I’ll be free / Just like that bluebird / Now, ain’t that just like me?”
