“When Sean was at boarding school in Switzerland, David would pick him up and take him on trips to museums and let Sean hang out at his recording studio in Geneva”, Ono remembered.
Van Hove, who worked with Bowie on the NY stage musical Lazarus, told Dutch website NOS.nl that he was sworn to secrecy about Bowie’s battle with cancer.
The outlet claims the “direct” cremation, which would have involved his remains being cremated without any sort of ceremony, would have cost between £480 and £630. The remains are then returned to the family unless otherwise specified.
Millions have been mourning the death of musician David Bowie this week, but it seems the singer himself was against the idea of a public memorial or funeral. He wanted “to go without any fuss”, a source says. This would totally be his style.
Rock legend David Bowie will be honored with a concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall that was announced with eerie timing just as the world discovered he had died.
The iconic singer’s death comes just days after the release of his 29th album, Blackstar, which coincided with his 69th birthday on January 8.
“He made “Blackstar” for us – his parting gift”, Bowie’s friend and longtime producer Tony Visconti said Monday. “And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way”, he said.
Fans of the star are continuing to gather at his home in the city following his death at the weekend.
On the day of Bowie’s death, she posted, “The Struggle is real, but so is God”.

Chairman of The Brit Awards Max Lousada said the “extraordinary life and work [of] one of our greatest icons” would be honoured at the show, held at London’s O2 arena.
