Rock star David Bowie has died surrounded by family following an 18-month battle with cancer. “For me, frankly, as an artist, that’s the most satisfying thing for the ego”, Bowie said. In March 1976, Bowie was on his “Isolar” tour, traveling as the Thin White Duke along with his good friend and collaborator, Iggy Pop. After a performance at the War Memorial Arena in Rochester, New York, Bowie and his crew were relaxing in a three-room suite at the Americana Rochester Hotel when they received a rude awakening from the local vice squad.
During half a century, Bowie recorded dozens of albums.

David Bowie’s appearance at Britain’s Glastonbury music festival in 2000 included a retrospective selection of his greatest hits, including Rebel Rebel and Changes. And two other Bowie albums reached the Top 10.
As Iman told Harper’s Bazaar about the love of her life, “David doesn’t fight”, she said. It proved to be his final tour before his death.
