Bowie released his 25th album, called Blackstar, on Friday 8 January, to coincide with his 69th birthday, and it remains top of the album charts.
David Bowie has been secretly cremated in NY with no family or friends present, according to reports.
The tribute night is being held just days after Bowie died aged 69, after an 18-month battle with cancer.
David Bowie stayed positive until the very end of his life.
“The cast didn’t know all that time, and I suspect that the musicians with whom he recorded Blackstar didn’t know either”, he said.
One of his last public outings was at the December premiere of his musical in NY where he “collapsed from exhaustion” behind the scenes.
David Bowie was planning another album before his death, and had prepared early recordings of five songs, his longtime producer has said.
His wife, Suzi Ronson, who was also responsible for Ziggy Stardust’s flame red hair, appeared on today’s This Morning where she admitted there was a glaringly obvious similarity between Ronson and Bowie’s last years.
Tony Visconti says his final conversation with his close friend, over FaceTime, was just a week before his sudden death – and suggested the rock legend had no idea how little time he had left.
“He told me more than a year and three months ago just after he had heard himself… he said it was liver cancer”, van Hove told Dutch public radio broadcaster NOS in an interview on Monday.
