David Bowie’s son slams Lady Gaga Grammy tribute
Bowie’s son Duncan Jones later appeared to join in the chorus of critics – he used words like “overexcited or irrational” and “mentally confused” in a Grammy-night tweet – and Rodgers also addressed that.

Between her tattoo and her incredible performance, it is clear that Lady Gaga set out to honor David Bowie, and she really did it better than we could have ever imagined. The performance involved a plethora of multi-colored lights and multiple costume-changes, and it was bolstered by a huge monitor in the background showing psychedelic images reminiscent of the Bowie’s visual aesthetic.
Starting the night, Gaga took to the red carpet in a striking Ziggy Stardust-inspired get up, donning a copper red wig, dramatic make-up and a bespoke Marc Jacobs floor length jacket.
Remaining Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear together with Beck also paid tribute to David Bowie by rendering “The Man Who Sold the World”, as reported by Rolling Stone. She posted two more Snapchats with the second post captioned “Hail Mary full of grace Saint Bowie” and one last post with simply, “Blackstar”.
“Just because the tribute wasn’t weepy or an all-star extravaganza doesn’t mean her one-woman show didn’t work”, said Natalie Finn of E!
“When I was 19 years old…” I started to live my life like him. Intel had their biggest assist at the beginning – before Gaga took the stage, she did a bit of “Space Oddity”, with Bowie’s face (with lightning bolt) superimposed on her own, to pretty great effect.
He didn’t follow up the tweet with anything else about the Grammys or the performance, but the message was posted immediately following Gaga’s performance.
In an interview with Mashable.com conducted before she performed at the Grammys, she said: “I want people to be fully immersed in the experience of him, because when I fell in love with him, as a fan, I didn’t just love him and his music”.
As previously announced, Gaga was selected to pay a musical tribute to Bowie, who passed away last January 10 at the age of 69. “I don’t know what my identity would be”.
