David Bowie Was Planning Another Album

Bowie battled cancer for 18 months and learned in November that his illness was terminal.

He explained his wishes to his family and wife Iman, 60, about what should happen after his death.

The insider in NY told The Mirror: ‘There is no public or private service or a public memorial.

“This year’s concert will certainly be remembered as a poignant celebration of his music by his friends, peers, and fans”, a statement on the organisers’ website said. The remains are then returned to the family unless otherwise specified.

A source told the newspaper: “In many respects you don’t need a memorial or service to remember David by… you have his music instead”.

Blackstar is David Bowie’s final release, but the recently departed artist was in the early stages of preparing another album, according to a new Rolling Stone interview with his longtime producer Tommy Visconti.

Sales and downloads of Blackstar, released on the singer’s 69th birthday two days before he died, have soared in the 24 hours since the news of Bowie’s death broke on Monday.

‘He would have wanted to just disappear with no fuss, no big show, no fan-fare.

“His last album “Blackstar” was very much his goodbye to fans instead”. “And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way”, he said.

“His death was no different from his life – a work of art”, said Mr Visconti. Throughout a roller coaster of improving and worsening conditions, Bowie finished Blackstar before his final diagnosis.

Millions have been mourning the death of musician David Bowie this week, but it seems the singer himself was against the idea of a public memorial or funeral.

It was announced yesterday that a tribute would be paid to Bowie at the Brit awards next month, celebrating what Brit chairman Max Lousada described as the “extraordinary life and work of one of our greatest icons”.
