David Duchovny is ready to make another season of The X-Files
Fox debuted the hotly anticipated return of The X-Files to a packed crowd at New York Comic Con.

Titled “My Struggle“, the first episode of the 10th season introduced texting to the series, as well as Joel McHale as conservative conspiracy theorist Tad O’Malley, and hit on several current hot-button political issues, which creator Chris Carter said was intentional.
‘I was going under a bridge and on the bridge above us it said, ‘Life has many bumps in the road, ‘ he said.
The X-Files returns Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 10/9c on Fox. “I took at it as a lesson learned – that if you do an “X-Files” movie it has to be big”. And Carter invoked a line that could have come straight from Mulder’s mouth: “I want to believe”.
Carter confessed that the only reason the series is back is because David wanted to do it, and David hinted that he wouldn’t be opposed to an 11th season. “Toward the end of the show, doing nine seasons, everybody gets a bit tired”. The original series followed Federal Bureau of Investigation special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases labeled “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena. And, as Carter reiterated, stories about government lies and coverups have taken on new relevancy in today’s post-NSA-leak world. “Nothing that was sitting on the shelf”, Carter told EW’s Kyle Anderson about bringing the show back to television after a 13-year hiatus. Moreover, Duchovny is interested in continuing the series after this six-episode miniseries: “If it so happens that there’s an appetite for more, you have my number”, he said. “When cable came in, and limited runs came on the network through the cable model, it became clear to us that if we weren’t able to do the movies, we could tell the stories Chris wanted to tell, and it might even be better suited for these long short runs”.
Fans weren’t entirely ready to let that split go. Pileggi then pointed to fellow panelist Carter and added, “He gave me a wonderful character I could do that with”. “I’ve always described him as the worst Federal Bureau of Investigation agent in history”. Suffice it to say it encompasses more than alien abductions and your garden variety government coverups. I truly think you don’t really want to see Mulder and Scully together. The spark between Mulder and Scully is still very much present, but so is the strain of their shared past – both what fans have seen and in the intervening years, which eventually saw their romantic split.
But at New York Comic Con, that honor belonged to Silicon Valley star and avid X-Files fan, Kumail Nanjiani.
Mulder and Scully are not living happily ever after. No longer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Scully has found work at a D.C. hospital and only has occasional contact with Mulder, whose loss of objective since the X-Files shuttered has sent him into an isolating depression.
The “X-Files” revival premiere starts with a Roswell-esque framing device with a landing of a mysterious spacecraft in the desert circa 1947.

Carter also confirmed after the screening that two of the episodes in the six-episode miniseries (the first and the last) will center on the show’s central alien mythology, while the middle four will be standalone, Monster of the Week-type jaunts.
