The Premier League side sold Luiz to PSG in 2014, but just two years later he is back at Stamford Bridge.

A deal was completed to re-sign the Brazilian defender from Paris St-Germain shortly before Wednesday night’s transfer deadline.

The 29-year-old has now left the Parc des Princes and re-signed for the Blues after the two clubs came to an agreement on a transfer fee on Wednesday, believed to be worth around £30m. “I can not wait to wear the shirt and play at Stamford Bridge again”.

Tottenham won a dramatic last-gasp tussle for Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko after the French midfielder snubbed a £30m move to Everton, despite appearing on course for a move to Goodison Park with the 11pm deadline in sight.

Speaking shortly after signing his five-year contract, a joyful Alonso expressed how easy it was to make the decision to join the Blues.

Although he endured criticism for some haphazard defending during his first Chelsea stint, Luiz helped the club win the Champions League for the first time when they defeated Bayern Munich in the 2012 final.

City’s England goalkeeper Joe Hart moved to Torino, French midfielder Samir Nasri joined Sevilla, Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony left for Stoke City and French defender Eliaquim Mangala departed to Valencia.

Cuadrado earlier rejoined Juventus on a loan deal which effectively brought his Chelsea career to an end.

“It’s fantastic to have this second opportunity to play for this club”.

Another departure from Manchester City as Sunderland bolster their defence with the loan signing of Jason Denayer.

Chelsea are in second place in the Premier League table behind Manchester City after three successive Premier League victories.

Leicester have agreed a club-record fee to sign Sporting striker Islam Slimani.

TOTTENHAM signed goalkeeper Pau Lopez from Espanyol on a season-long loan.

“I have not talked to him really about the rumors over a return to Atletico Madrid”, the Belgian player said.

The fee for uncapped Spaniard Alonso, 25, is a reported £23m.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere’s fall from grace after a troubled few years on and off the pitch continued as the 24-year-old was sent out on a season’s loan to Bournemouth.
