“We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success”, said Luiz, a Champions League victor in 2012 at Chelsea. “I can’t wait to wear the shirt and play in Stamford Bridge again”.
Luiz has expressed his delight after rejoining Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old left Chelsea two years ago and despite well documented lapses in concentration he has always possessed great athleticism and ball-playing ability. Courtois has welcomed the return of David Luiz to Chelsea.
Luiz, who won two consecutive Ligue 1 crowns with PSG, said he wanted to fight for more trophies with Chelsea.
He became the Blues’ fifth summer signing after France midfielder N’Golo Kante, Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi, Portuguese goalkeeper Eduardo and Alonso.
He helped Juventus to a league and cup double last season while making 40 appearances and was welcomed back by the Bianconeri. It meant getting rid of its starting goalkeeper for the past six years as well as three other players who cost City a combined 95 million pounds ($125 million).
The former Bolton defender began his career at Real Madrid and has also had a spell on loan at Sunderland.
Chelsea correspondent Liam Twomey delves into where David Luiz will fit into Antonio Conte’s plans.
“I’m very happy to be here again”. It’s a step up in my career and I think this is the flawless place for me to continue developing.
“It will be an incredible opportunity for me to show the fans again how I love this club and how I love to play for this club”.

“I am pleased he is staying at Chelsea because he is a great forward and he has already scored two really important goals for us this season”.
