‘I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again’.

Chelsea signed left-back Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina earlier Wednesday.

This has seen Chelsea bring Luiz back to the club.

Although he endured criticism for some haphazard defending during his time at Chelsea, Luiz helped the club win the Champions League for the first time when they defeated Bayern Munich in the German club’s own stadium in the 2012 final.

The 29-year-old has a bigger responsibility at Chelsea this time around with his mentor John Terry accepting a lesser role and a pay cut in a new deal at the end of last season.

While the former Liverpool defender admits that he isn’t a huge admirer of Luiz, Carragher accepts that Chelsea lacked alternatives and Luiz won’t need time to settle in at Stamford Bridge.

Having earned a reputation for taking unnecessary risks and making costly mistakes during his first three-year spell at Chelsea, Luiz does not appear to fit Conte’s criteria for a central defender. I love this club, so that’s why I am here.

“I don’t want to buy just to buy, I want to buy the right player for Chelsea, for the present, for the future, with a good prospect”.

“Of course I want to win the Premier League and of course I want to win all the titles again”, he added.

Alonso’s arrival gives Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte options at the back, with the possibility of Cesar Azpilicueta switching to right-back and Branislav Ivanovic playing in the centre of defence.
