David Moyes advises Manchester United not to sack Van Gaal

Gaal who said United will focus on Europa League to gain Champions League qualification for next season, has already seen his players falter and that desire too is slipping away.

Those sentiments are now being reflected in media with local newspaper the Manchester Evening News bearing the headline “LVG Must Go” above a strongly worded comment piece on the back page of Friday’s edition.

“The football has been boring, to be honest”, said Coppell”.

Some United fans who made the trip to Herning, where match tickets cost as much as pound sterling71 (91 Euros, $101), were heard to turn on their own side with abusive chants as United suffered a miserable 2-1 loss.

United travelled to Denmark with 13 first-team players unable to feature in their round-of-32 tie with Midtjylland, including captain, Wayne Rooney, and goalkeeper, David de Gea.

But Van Gaal still put out a starting XI packed with experienced internationals from Spain, France, the Netherlands, England and Argentina.

Carrick added: “The second half wasn’t good enough”.

What does appear to be evident is that Van Gaal’s position as United boss has become untenable, with Monday’s FA Cup fifth round clash against Shrewsbury now offering the threat of fresh humiliation for the Dutch tactician.

It is certainly a realistic target – but after Van Gaal’s men were so lacklustre in the sorry reverse at Midtjylland on Thursday, there would also appear to be every chance they could endure further struggles over the coming days.

The newspaper claims that a group of more experienced professionals in the United dressing room are now unsure of van Gaal’s ability to arrest the club’s current form.

Pochettino is rated at 7-2 to be van Gaal’s successor, with Giggs next in line at 5-1. Between October and December, there was the run of five 0-0 draws in nine games that highlighted the anaemic nature of United’s attacking play under Van Gaal.

With his side six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the Premier League, the Dutchman admitted earlier this week the most viable way into next season’s Champions League for United would be winning the Europa League. He was playing a soccer game on his computer instead.
