David Wright has herniated disk in neck, DL possible
And he said it sounds as though the herniated disk is “just an unfortunate coincidence” that’s unrelated to Wright’s spinal stenosis.

Wright said he’s not sure what caused the injury, or whether it’s connected in any way to the spinal stenosis condition in his back. This season he has played in 37 games, though he has missed nine contests this month.
The fact that Wright is out of the lineup for the second game in a row (and possibly third game tomorrow) is even more upsetting as his bat has been alive lately; he had a six-game hitting streak and has homered in three consecutive games. But David’s a tough guy, plays through a lot of pain and we’ll wait to see how he is in a couple days.
Wright previously took anti-inflammatory medication that required a 48-hour window, and doctors told him Wednesday that receiving this shot was the next step in trying to alleviate the discomfort.
Because of all this, the Mets have recalled Wilmer Flores from the disabled list, who will be playing third base in tonight’s game against the Dodgers.
“We won’t know until we see how he comes out of the neck thing, but this guy’s been a special player in baseball”, Collins said to Kussoy. “David has a lot of baseball left in him because of the way he prepares and gets himself ready, but it’s hard to see him going through what he’s going through, and to see as good as he was”, Collins said. “Next morning, woke up and it was worse”. He went 4 for 17 (.235) in five rehab games with Double-A Binghamton.
Though Collins believes Wright will get through it, the manager touched upon the possibility that the neck injury threatens his capabilities as much as his availability.

“I don’t have an answer to that”, Collins said. He also is dealing with a back issue. “They gave him some medication”.
