Davis (bruised hip) sits out 2nd half of Pels’ win

On several possessions tonight, he was covered by either Al Horford or Mike Muscala, and yet they never even gave him a chance to work down there.

“We’re a little short-handed”.

As a wise man once said: “You know you’re looking at an Alvin Gentry team when they attempt 33 threes, and you know you’re looking at a Jimmer Fredette team when they make 42% of them”. Eric Gordon, meanwhile, jump-started it all with New Orleans’ first five points on his way to 17 for the game.

There are a couple of “here we go again” thoughts to this.

Before Friday’s game, the Pelicans listed Davis as doubtful to play. They rallied from a 34-point deficit in that one before losing to the Timberwolves 117-107. New Orleans has played Golden St twice, Portland, Atlanta and Dallas in what has turned out to be a ridiculously tough schedule.

It’s the only time this season the Mavericks will have to do this and coach Rick Carlisle is all right with that.

Kyle Korver finally missed a shot!

The same can be said for point guard Jrue Holiday, who finished with 10 points, 3 assists and 2 steals in only 15 minutes of work as he remains on a minutes restriction.

The Hawks made a few defensive adjustments at halftime.

“We were a bit unorganized”, Kyle Korver said.

The Hawks climbed back into a game they trailed in by double-digits in the first half with a solid third quarter. Anderson put up 17 and 11 on 7-16 shooting that included two three-point shots, and Gordon led all Pelicans with 26 points. Hawks: Jeff Teague had 14 points and 10 assists, the 43rd points-assists double-double of his career. Joel Meyers had to do the broadcast by himself after David Wesley was forced out of action, and that was a ideal metaphor for this Pelicans season, and this game in particular. That ties him with Lenny Wilkens for third in franchise history…. Afflalo missed the first eight games with hamstring issues, but started and played 28 minutes.
