Day after endorsement, Ryan slams Trump
House Speaker Paul Ryan, a day after throwing his support behind Donald Trump, already has had to distance himself from one of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s comments.

In an interview with WISN’s “Upfront with Vicki McKenna”, Ryan said Trump’s comment about the judge was “out of the left field”.
The Senate’s top Republican says he “couldn’t disagree more” with Donald Trump’s personal attacks on the federal judge presiding over the lawsuit against Trump University. “I hope it’s not”. “‘A Hispanic can not judge a case against me.’ That is what he Trump is saying”, Megyn Kelly said.
But Ryan did endorse Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, in a column sent Thursday exclusively to The Gazette.
Still, Ryan said he supported Trump because Hillary Clinton would not be a partner on advancing conservative principles.
The Republican speaker said he now has an increased comfort level with Trump’s approach toward Ryan’s priorities, including halting overreach by the president and executive branch.
Trump’s contention that Curiel is biased against him because of Trump’s border plan is “ridiculous”, said Josh Blackman, a young conservative law professor at the South Texas College of Law in Houston.
A few hundred protesters are blocking traffic and some are scuffling with supporters of Donald Trump after the presidential candidate’s rally in San Jose, California.
Ryan had previously criticized some of Trump’s positions and the two men have significant differences on an assortment of policy issues. After much deliberation and delay, Ryan announced he would vote for Trump on Thursday. Ryan has been amongst the most outspoken Congressional Republicans about the need to reform the health care system in a way that relies less on centralized government management. In essence, Paul Ryan agrees with the Republican nominee.
“I think he did the right thing”, he added.
Ryan tells the AP he needed time to get to know Trump before endorsing.
They can embrace Trump wholeheartedly, denounce him or offer tepid support as Ryan has. “He wants good things for the country”.
She said she imagined Mr Trump “composing nasty tweets” about her as she spoke, seeking to turn Mr Trump’s prolific Twitter habit into an additional bullet point demonstrating that he was unfit for the presidency. “I’m going to (the Republican National Convention), so I should be able to perhaps learn a little bit more, get some answers to questions out there”.

With a vacancy on the Supreme Court, and the Republican legislative agenda stalled in Congress, Ryan says the party can not afford another resounding defeat in the general election. “Most of us are committed to supporting him and trying to bring the party together, and I think he needs to play his role on all of that as well”. The various forces aligned against Donald Trump’s candidacy had been waiting for just such an opportunity to spew a bit more venom against a high profile target and this was about as appetizing of a meal as they could hope for.
