Day wins in a blowout at Barclays

Through 12 holes of his final round at Plainfield Country Club, Day’s drive on 13 went into the trees to the right-hand side of the fairway – uncharacteristic, according to the player himself.

Now Day feels it is his time to thrive.

Spieth, meanwhile, turned in an unlikely dud of a performance, falling victim to golf’s math and Day’s hot steak. Here’s a look at the odds for the event.

If you’re looking for a pretournament favorite, call off the search.

“I think I have the opportunity to get to number one (in the world) if I play some good golf over the next three or four weeks”.

“Right now, I’m trying to focus on getting some rest and going into next week, trying to play that golf course, which I absolutely love”, he said.

A philosophy of “not being okay with okay” has rocketed Australian golf ace Jason Day into world No 1 contention.

The former world No 1 and Masters champion tumbled to 106th in the FedExCup race, with only the top 100 making it to Boston.

Going into the opening playoff event, the early chatter centered on the new world No. 1 player American Jordan Spieth.

That’s why Day was quick not to dismiss Spieth.

Day has no such worries.

Kisner has had a marvelous breakout season, but last week’s tie for 20th was his first top 30 since June. The exception was a third-round even-par 70 at the Bridgestone Invitational.

“Jason is full of confidence, just heating it up, making birdies”, said Henrik Stenson, the 2013 Deutsche Bank and FedExCup champion who finished second to Day at the Barclays. “It would have taken something really special to challenge him today the way he’s playing at the moment”. Zach Johnson continues to put together a Hall of Fame career, but this course might be a little bit too much for him. Instead, it brought a sense of calmness, which has carried him the past month: win at the Canadian Open, tie for 12th at the Bridgestone, win at the PGA, win at the Barclays. “It’s been a goal of mine”.

With the exception of the Masters (75) and the US Open, when he shot 74 while he was tied for the lead and dealing with vertigo, Day has broken par in every final round this season.

“I’m now ranked number one in the FedExCup, which is fantastic”.

I’M SURELY not alone in finding it odd that, in football, the manager and player of the year awards are voted for before titles are decided and the season’s main cup competition won or lost.

When you watch the highlight of Jason’s day at the Barlcays, just listen to the announcers. “You fail and you learn”. If things change before tee time on Friday, I’ll update my lineup on our FansidedFantasy Twitter feed.

Day closed with a 63-62 weekend and finished at 19-under 261. However, that learning curve has accelerated dramatically since that 72nd hole birdie putt came up a few feet short at St. Andrews.

It seems that way. His win in Canada, after coming close to winning the Open Championship proved that he was able to bounce back quickly from disappointment.

If the Australian were to win the Tour Championship, that makes it interesting, but still probably not enough. Don’t bet against him. Spieth and Day provided the answer, with four wins apiece on the PGA Tour, and three of the four majors.

I mean, do I really need to explain this?

However, as we talked about the best golfers usually play well here and this is a scorer’s course.

Day started well during the first two rounds with matching 68’s.
