Dayashankar expresses regret over his remarks against Mayawati
Even as the police were trying to ferret out Singh, the BJP sought to turn the tables on Mayawati, asking her to tender an apology and take action against party leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui for his abusive language at a BSP rally against Daya Shankar’s daughter. Some BSP leaders had made derogatory references against Singh’s wife and daughter during a protest on Thursday.

“Why Mayawati is not taking action against Nassemuddin Siddiqui”.
“BSP chief has a style that whosoever bids maximum money for a ticket, she gives it to that person”, he said.
But the BSP rejected the charges levelled in an FIR against its leaders and workers, who are alleged to have used abusive language during a protest by the BSP. Her desperate attempt to play politics on this issue clearly shows that she is ungrateful. “Behenji had to go through a very untoward incident on June 2, 1995, and the BJP helped and protected her in that hour of crisis”, said Maurya.
Responding to the comments, she called it an attack on women and dalits. “Police is looking for Dayashankar Singh and he will be caught soon”, the officer said.
In Uttar Pradesh, the family of expelled BJP leader has lodged a case against BSP leaders for abusing and publicly tarnishing the dignity of his female family members while protesting.
Meanwhile, Dayashankar Singh’s wife Swati today demanded the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act to be imposed against Mayawati and Naseemuddin Siddiqui.
An FIR was on Friday filed against Mayawati and some of her party leaders by police on a complaint by the family of expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh whose whereabouts were not known after he kicked up a controversy by questioning the character of the BSP supremo.
BSP workers took to the streets protesting the comments, waving flags in the air and shouting slogans.
