The kickoff is all day as well, from 10 a.m.to 7 p.m. and everyone of all ages are welcome to every event of the kickoff, Hjorting said.

The reading fun officially begins on June 4 at all public libraries across the city. “The great thing about Summer Reading Programs like the Gadsden Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is that it is absolutely free to participate”. We did that because a lot of people may not be familiar with Pinterest, but a lot of people are into that. This year’s promotional materials feature “Froggy”, the star of 27 books for children written by Jonathan London and illustrated by U.S. Navy veteran Frank Remkiewicz. Each program participant who reads 10 books and/or 500 pages will receive a certificate of achievement. They also can unlock different video games and different levels. “It was so well received by adults, we said, ‘OK, we’ll do it again, ‘” Cheryl Ferverda, the library’s communications and development manager, said last week.
The library is a place the whole family can visit together.
Readers of all ages read for 941,167 minutes and earned 28,290 badges in 2015. Older youth readers will log 1,000 pages of reading to finish the program, and teens will read 1,600 pages. Children will make creations to display in the children’s department.
“Grown-ups look forward to summer as much as kids do”, said library administrator Jill Prouty. “We wanted to encompass all that the Loveland library offers to the community”.

In order to finish all children’s summer activities at the library before noon, our summer hours will change slightly. Over the next six weeks, all libraries will hold a range of free activities that encourage and support a love of reading. But they are always there for audio books (waiting in traffic a bit?), beach/pool reads and of course that bestseller you never got around to reading during your busy year so far. Activities at the Havre de Grace Library include a performance by magician Mike Rose and the opportunity to explore the newly reopened Havre de Grace Library. “Having that ongoing reading is really critical to developing those literacy skills and making sure they’re on track when they go back to school”. Youth who join our program commit to reading (or being read to) at least 10 minutes daily. Note that June 24 will be an open play morning. Weekly prizes relate to this year’s sports theme and could include wristbands, water bottles, bicycle lights and more, Adams said. “Here in Loveland, we’ve been growing our adult activities and programs.so there is some component that is just for them”.
