DC Police Probe Links Between Fire, Woman Shot by Officer
District of Columbia police say they are investigating any possible connection between a knife-wielding woman who was shot by an officer and a fire that initially brought officers to the scene.

Police announced charges Sunday night against Renita Nettles.
She ignores the officers request to drop the knife and the crowd can also be heard shouting at the woman – known locally as Storm – to “put the knife down”.
Police did not provide an update on Nettles’ condition, but she was expected to survive her gunshot wound. Witnesses who spoke to The Washington Post confirmed that account of the shooting, which was captured by bystanders on video.
The officer who shot her was on routine administrative leave. Gwendolyn Crump, a police spokeswoman, said his name would not be released.
A spokesman for Mayor Muriel Bowser says the mayor has remained in constant contact with Police Chief Cathy Lanier as the shooting is investigated.

Nettles stays hospitalized with non-life-threatening accidents.
