DC: Sen. Warren Lashes Out at Republicans, Trump Over Judges
U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan has described as “racist” the remarks by Trump about Curiel, while South Carolina Sen.

“I thought two weeks ago he had a better than 50-50 chance”, Welch, the 80-year-old former chief executive officer of General Electric Co., said in a Bloomberg TV interview, adding that he still plans to vote for Trump. “But my personal interactions, I find [that he] has a very evenhanded temperament”.
Last week, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said Gonzalo Curiel, the federal judge presiding over a case involving Trump University, had a conflict of interest because of his “Mexican heritage”. While it calls for the use of “high fencing” along border areas, the plan steers clear of the billionaire candidate’s signature issue: building a wall to keep people from illegally entering the United States from Mexico. “I don’t feel comfortable with what Mr. Trump is saying, not only about this judge, but the way he’s campaigning, his policy positions regarding Muslims – I just think Mr. Trump is taking the country and the party in the wrong direction, and I will be no part of it”.
Nonetheless, Ryan has expressed no regret over his endorsement, and he said Hillary Clinton was not the answer to Trump’s statements.
“I wish he would speak less about things like judges in Indiana”, Welch said.
U.S. Rep. Raúl Labrador slammed Donald Trump on Thursday for racially charged rhetoric about a Hispanic judge but said he still supported his party’s nominee for president on a policy basis.
“People think all politicians lie”, said Brad Woodhouse, president of Correct the Record in a phone call with media previewing the site. Biden also endorsed Clinton at the lawyers’ event.
The Republican senator from SC said, “To suggest that a judge can’t fairly decide a case because of where his parents were born is a new low in a campaign with plenty of lows”.
“Trump isn’t a different kind of candidate: He’s a Mitch McConnell kind of candidate”, said Warren.
“”For all of those Bernie Sanders voters who will be left out in the cold by a rigged system of superdelegates, we welcome you with open arms.””.
Having Biden and Warren in her corner gives Clinton a major boost, both in terms of surrogates on the campaign trail and in terms of symbolic unity for Democrats.
