Pep Guardiola lavished praise on his Manchester City side after the style he has imposed since arriving at the club last season came to fruition in a superb 1-0 win at Chelsea.

It took just three minutes for United to breach Palace’s leaky defence when Juan Mata marked his 200th Premier League appearance with his first goal of the season, the Spanish winger finishing emphatically from Marcus Rashford’s cross.

City top scorer Sergio Aguero is absent following a vehicle crash on his day off in Holland on Thursday.

Former Liverpool skipper Gerrard felt that Conte got his substitutions wrong, while the retired England worldwide suggested Chelsea gave Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Manchester City too much respect.

“In the second half the impression was good”.

The visitors’ pressure began to grow shortly afterwards, though, with Silva and Jesus both coming close in quick succession before the breakthrough finally arrived in some style. “Chelsea could not play and had to do long balls”, City boss Pep Guardiola said.

Morata needs another hat-trick today as that would see him equal Diego Costa’s tally of nine goals in his first seven Premier League outings.

Antonio Conte responded soon after by sending on Michy Batshuayi and Pedro but the Citizens remained in firm control and Gabriel Jesus had a well struck volley cleared off the line by Rudiger.

“It’s a new staff and they need to get to know me, but I’m getting a lot of playing time and I have to keep going and show I am entitled to more”.

Chelsea were forced to a first half change as Morata went off with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Willian.

Manchester City did not lose at least one game out of six games in this season.

Team to play Chelsea: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Deplh, Fernandinho, Sterling, De Bruyne, Delph, Sane, David Silva, Jesus.

“It is normal when you play three games un only seven days to consider this aspect but we needed to take this risk”.

They also embarrassed title rivals Liverpool 5-0 a few weeks ago and look like the team to beat this season.
