De Bruyne hails 5-goal Man City teammate Aguero

“We are very disappointed, especially after the first half”.

Aguero’s City and Argentina team-mate, Pablo Zabaleta, who made his first start of the season after returning from injury, echoed Pellegrini’s praise of the 27-year-old.

Cole became the first player to score five goals in the Premier League in the 9-0 humiliation of Ipswich at Old Trafford in March 1995.

De Bruyne curled a shot just wide and substitute Kelechi Iheancho had an effort punched away acrobatically by Krul as Newcastle endured another miserable afternoon and their wait for a first win of the season continued.

Struggling champions Chelsea are in action later on Saturday when they host Southampton, with Jose Mourinho’s side seeking to close the 10-point gap that now separates them from City. They were culpable of doing the same here, and even more.

Sergio Aguero stole the show with a five-goal haul as City hit back in emphatic style, and McClaren feels that his players will learn from the experience. Aguero went into the game playing 595 minutes of open play without a single goal.

But in a 13-minute spell at the start of the second half, Aguero added another four goals, while Kevin de Bruyne also got in on the scoring act for the leaders.

While Aguero deservedly won the plaudits, Joe Hart’s contribution shouldn’t be forgotten.

Aleksander Mitrovic scored the first goal in the game, putting Newcastle in the lead.

Then, Sergio Aguero’s late equaliser and the second half came…

“The goal just before halftime kind of woke them up”, Newcastle manager Steve McClaren told Sky. It wasn’t quite the heaviest scoreline Newcastle have suffered in the Premier League, but it was up there, and they now face what is turning into a must-win game against Norwich City in a fortnight. Steven Fletcher and Jeremain Lens, who scored a classy chip, put Sunderland 2-0 up, but Lens was then sent off for two bookable offences and goals from Carl Jenkinson and Dimitri Payet earned West Ham a point. “In the last game, he missed important chance but he was calm and that was very clever for him to be calm”.

On Sunday, Manchester United travel to Arsenal, while Everton host Liverpool in their Merseyside derby.

Chelsea, the defending champion, appeared to be on its way when Willian scored in the 10th minute.

“The second goal that was disallowed was onside, so we should have had that and we had other opportunities”.

It’s similarly bleak for Aston Villa, which is a point further ahead with just one win to its name so far. “And the message is again that… bad results, the manager is guilty”.

“This is a moment for everybody to assume their responsibilities and stick together”.
