Before the meeting, Baker said the budget was “close to being flat” and will result in an overall tax decrease in two of the towns in the school district – Albion and Fairfield – and a tax increase in Benton and Clinton. SD8 staff intend to temporarily relocate to Central School by the end of the year, although a permanent home for the district office hasn’t yet been decided on.

Students from all Florence One high schools, district officials and state representatives joined in on the conversation.
The third finalist, Dr. James Hammack, is the superintendent of Byron Community School District No. 226 in Byron, Illinois. “As I’ve said, things are looking absolutely, wonderfully favorable at this point”.

Re-3 School Board President Derek Gerken told the Fort Morgan Times he “absolutely” feels confident in the slate of four finalists for the superintendent position and that one of them will be the right fit for the school district.
