In a statement from Winona Police Chief Paul Bostrack, officers were sent to EB’s Corner bar at 700 West 5th Street shortly after 1 a.m.

Officers searched for the suspect based on witness descriptions, and a 48-year-old Winona man was arrested without incident at an apartment building.

The 53-year-old suffered a shot to the torso area and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man shot in the leg was listed in stable condition, the report states.

Police were also searching for suspects early Wednesday morning at multiple addresses, including the location that was secured, and looking for a vehicle that fled the scene after the shooting. Once they learned where the suspect was located, they evacuated nearby apartments. He remains jailed on suspicion of assault and second-degree murder during a drive-by shooting, suggesting that he fired the shots from a vehicle.
