Emergency responders at the scene of the plane crash near South Lake Tahoe, California, Saturday, October 10, 2015.

“I have been told it is a hard area to fly, especially if you are not really experienced, or if the conditions are really poor or there are a lot of winds, and there is thin air due to the elevation”, Lt. Bryan Golmitz of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.

They were eating dinner in their rental home, preparing for a night in, when a plane came crashing just feet from their living room. Officials said both were able to escape without injuries.

‘They assumed a tree had taken out a power line’.

“We were pouring a glass of wine when all of a sudden, the house shook, and there was a big boom. And then we went to look through the window and there were branches falling from the tree”, Rod said”. “We grabbed the dog”, he said.

The names of the two passengers on board the aircraft, who were killed, have not yet been released and it is unclear of where the plane’s final destination was. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Alan Kenitzer said. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash, Kenitzer said.
