This story will be updated with information, as it becomes available. An investigation was underway into the incident as police launched a manhunt for at least two suspects.
One shooting victim has died; the other survived.
Earlier this evening, Syracuse University issued an “Orange Alert” telling people in and around the campus to remain indoors while police investigate.
At a house on Hope Avenue officers found a 15-year-old boy dead on the rear porch and a 17-year-old who’d been shot in the leg. He was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Students were told to remain indoors and not to let anyone in. Reporter Brett Hall is on the scene and reports a “heavy” police presence there. Police searched Oakwood Cemetery, which borders the private university.
According to Syracuse University’s twitter page, around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, “the emergency no longer exists”.
