Deadly New Mexico road rage incident started over lane dispute, reports say
Torrez was arrested Wednesday afternoon after tips from the public poured into the Albuquerque Police Department. He has been charged with murder, assault, child abuse and other crimes. He made a court appearance from jail via video as a judge reviewed the terms of his $650,000 cash-only bond.

Todd Farkas, a public defender assigned to the case, declined to comment but said he planned to release a statement on Friday.
Garduno is organizing a vigil Saturday in honor of the girl.
Police Chief Gorden Eden has described the shooting about an hour before the start of evening rush hour as an unexplainable crime brought on by road rage. Torrez had his head down most of the time and didn’t appear to make any comments.
Garcia gestured toward the other driver and swore at him. “We’ll spend $40,000 locking up a man, guarding him, and keeping him behind bars, but we won’t pay $10,000 for him to be rehabilitated. She was very bright and very smart”, he said. Before Torrez’s arrest, Veronica Garcia told Albuquerque’s KOAT-TV that her daughter “had this personality that was just over and above her age”.
A man confessed to shooting and killing a 4-year-old girl while arguing with her father on an Albuquerque freeway, police said, without offering more details on what led to the apparent road rage.
Police identified Lymon in a tweet early Thursday as the man they suspect shot an eight-year veteran officer multiple times Wednesday. Torrez allegedly said something back and fired two shots. Garcia pulled over and tried to give first aid to his dying little girl as a bystander called 911.
The chief said Torrez was taken into custody in connection with the Tuesday shooting on I-40 in Albuquerque after police received an anonymous tip. Albuquerque officer Simon Drobik told ABC News station KOAT, “From what we understand, the cars were both moving”.
The only crime for which he’s been prosecuted was a misdemeanor speeding violation in 2013.
He also faced aggravated battery and kidnapping charges past year that were dismissed, online records show.
KRQE searched Torrez’s criminal history and saw about a half-dozen arrests over the past decade for everything from child abuse and domestic violence to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The grandfather of a 4-year-old girl killed in a road rage shooting says something has to be done about gun violence.
While attempting to exit the highway to get to the store, another vehicle crossed two lanes of traffic and blocked Mr. Garcia. “Lilly was hit at least once in the head”.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m.by a Walgreen’s near the junction of Eubank and Central Avenue, just south of Interstate 40.
