Ryan Reynolds can start celebrating now that he proved his vision Wade Wilson and Deadpool are what the fans really wanted because “Deadpool” is about to set a record on its opening weekend alone with an estimated $100 million earnings in the US box office.

It seems the golden girl isn’t the only fan excited about the film as the R-rated Marvel flick is already setting records at the box office, besting Fox’s own records with $12M opening Thursday night. “We had a little talk with the crew at the beginning of the day and just said, ‘You’re going to see parts of the dance floor here that you weren’t ready for”. That follows an impressive $47.5 million Friday.

This number is up from earlier projections of $65-70 million. Fifty Shades of Grey holds the four-day Valentine’s Day/Presidents’ Day weekend record with $93 million. Speaking of Fox, Deadpool is even out-performing the studio’s most famous franchise, having out-earned X-Men: Days of Future Past in Britain and France.

Deadpool opens on Friday, Feb. 12. All in all, things are looking solid at the box office for Deadpool this weekend, and considering that it only cost $58 million to make (without taking its fantastic marketing campaign into account), all signs look good for its eventual sequel, as well.
