Nyle DiMarco has won Dancing with the Stars season 22.

DiMarco, who was born deaf, mastered his routines even though he was unable to hear the musical cues.

“If this was judged purely on dance, you’re the one to beat”, he said, bestowing high praise on “12 Gauge” for her last dance and her performance throughout the competition. “You get no sympathy votes from me”. The three finalists – Ginger, Paige and Nyle – danced their hearts out and gave us dance routines that will go in the DWTS history books. Commenting on the win, Nyle said that he had been determined to represent the deaf community and he was glad to have the win for all the deaf people in the world. It was at that point, DiMarco told People, that he realized the performances were not just about the dance, but about connecting with the audience.
The America’s Next Top Model victor revealed that he couldn’t believe it was nearly over because he felt like it was still week one. The couple defeated meteorologist Ginger Zee and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy, as well as UFC fighter Paige VanZant and her partner Mark Ballas.
During the winner’s performance to “Sound of Silence”, DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba was moved to tears calling the freestyle as the best she have seen in the 22 seasons of the series.

After the announcement of winners, DiMarco and Murgatroyd couldn’t contain their joy. As revealed during his run on Dancing With the Stars, he’d planned to become a math teacher before he started modeling. Paige VanZant – 30 out of 30 Perhaps it was a little bit of kismet for Paige and Mark Ballas to earn a flawless 30: today was Mark’s 30th birthday!
