Dear Apple, this is not how you start a wireless revolution

If you want to get your hands on the new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, then you may be dismayed to know the product will cost you more than previous models – all because of Brexit. Never fear, oh faithful Apple constituents, for Late Show host Stephen Colbert is here to save your adversely affected lives with an ingenious solution to your headphone jack-less problem. The company also announced two new products: the AirPods and the Apple Watch Series 2. They made it smaller. They’ll really appreciate it. This was on the global site but the changes were also reflected on the India site, leading to speculations that Apple has discontinued these phones.

It’s a topic that’s dividing people, with some welcoming the fearless new wireless/lightning connection world, while others are grumbling about having to use a dodgy-sounding adapter to continue using their current headphones.

But if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Apple in the past, it’s this: Apple never closes a door without giving you the option to pay to open a window.

In the world of extremely tight dimensional tolerances and microcircuitry inside the iPhone, every millimeter of space counts, and different components can interfere with each other. Apple claims that once fully charged, you can use the AirPods for five hours. Six, to be exact. Music automatically turns off when they’re taken out of the ear. Also of note: the glossy, “jet black” iPhone 7 scratches more easily than other finishes, so if you get that one you’ll want to get a case, which perhaps completely defeats the objective of picking a phone for its sheen. Its blue-ish tint bounces the moonlight creeping through the curtains onto the large mirror at the foot of his bed, filling the room with an ambient glow.

The new, teeny wireless bluetooth headphones were unveiled at Apple’s event Wednesday, to accompany the controversial decision to ditch the headphone jack in favor of next-generation wireless sound. “It just so happens that this courageous move will make Apple a whole lot of money selling awkward accessories”, he wrote.
