Champaign County has been laying mosquito traps provided by the state for weeks, Webb said, but hasn’t captured numerous pests.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending pregnant women avoid travel to the Wynwood neighborhood near Miami, Florida.
Florida has the capacity to test only 5,941 people for active Zika virus and 1,613 for Zika antibodies, health officials said.

“We recognize that any options that involve moving resources from other parts of your budget require raiding other vital work that is being done at your department”, they wrote.
As Zika virus continues to infect Americans, with a total of 1,825 cases reported so far, health officials in at-risk areas like Miami, Florida encourage the public to be aware of the first signs of infection. Infants born to mothers with confirmed infections will be monitored for one year.
More than a dozen non-travel related Zika cases were discovered in Miami-Dade County, according to the Associated Press.

Instead, Miami-Dade is encouraging the “aggressive application” of insect repellent at home before school. A month later, she dispatched two of her aides to Puerto Rico, where hundreds of cases have been detected, to meet with medical professionals. While the majority of the cases have been caused because of traveling to affected areas, two of the cases from Broward County have been caused locally.
