Death Stranding Details: Co-op Gameplay, Release Date Finalized And More
Another interesting bit that Kojima revealed recently is the new co-op gameplay of “Death Stranding.” However, he did confirm that the game’s release date is already set.

Although Kojima had said last week during the PlayStation Press Conference in Japan that Death Stranding will be an online multiplayer game, he explained during Sunday’s stage session that it can also be played solo. Taking to Twitter with a recap of the show’s announcements, Kojima Productions announced that the game will release before the Tokyo Olympic Games, set for the summer of 2020, and “before the new Akira”. Hideo Kojima gave very little information regarding the co-op elements of the game. So fans definitely have something to look forward to. What he confirmed, however, is that a heroine will be present alongside Norman Reedus’ character, who is seen naked and mourning in the first teaser trailer for the game.
“This game will show a different side of Norman Reedus than fans of The Walking Dead might expect”, said Kojima.
If Kojima is referring to the live-action Akira remake, that could prove to be even more unhelpful than the Olympics date, as the film has been in production hell since 2008.
One of E3 2016’s biggest mysteries came in the form of Death Stranding, with a trailer so ambiguous that it would give The Sopranos’ ending a run for its money. According to Kojima, the game is being developed on a well-known third-party engine. After Kojima formed his own studio, Shinkawa joined him and started working on Death Stranding.

For fans who are wondering what the game’s title means, Wired has learned that the term “death stranding” is a phenomenon when dead whales or dolphins get washed up on the shore.
