The execution of a man at a hospital in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron early Thursday has generated shock even among Palestinians familiar with Israel’s brutality.
The forces handcuffed Shalaldeh and a brother who was in the room, then shot and killed another brother, 27-year-old Abdallah, as he emerged from a bathroom, Shawar said.
During the conflict, more than 2,000 Palestinians were killed, the vast majority of them civilians, while 66 Israeli soldiers died.
Earlier Friday, a Palestinian teenager in Hebron succumbed to his wounds after being shot by Israeli troops a day earlier. Twelve Israelis have been killed in a spate of attacks by Palestinians, while 78 Palestinians have been killed.
The director of Hebron’s al-Ahly hospital, Jehad Shawar, told Voice of Palestine radio that 20-30 undercover soldiers arrived at the clinic at around 3 am and entered with someone in a wheelchair pretending to be pregnant.
“Their goal is to destroy Israel”, said Tzipi Schlissel, who along with her 11 children are among the 75 Israeli families who live in Hebron.
“The arrest of a Palestinian injured patient who is receiving a medical treatment and kidnapping him to an unknown location also is a grave violation to the global law and the human rights law”, the ministry added. One Palestinian was killed within the protest.
Azzam Shalaldeh was being treated at the hospital for gunshot wounds, which the military said were sustained when the Israeli he stabbed last month shot him.
Last month, Ellian, 22, was killed during an attack on an Israeli bus that led to the death of three Israelis, according to Israeli police.
According to Al Jazeera, Palestinians frustrated over what they see as an Israeli occupation attacked and killed at least 10 Israelis.
The organization also found that three-quarters of respondents believe “the expansion of settlements on the West Bank is a major obstacle to peace, ” with 72 percent rejecting the idea that Palestinians “have no legitimate claim to a land of their own”.
Israel’s foreign ministry said, “We regret that the European Union has chosen, for political reasons, to take such an exceptional and discriminatory step, inspired by the boycott movement, particularly at this time, when Israel is confronting a wave of terrorism targeting any and all of its citizens”.
The Israeli Shin Bet security agency said in a statement that Azzam Shalaldeh came from a family of operatives for the Islamist group Hamas.
