Debate a chance for rivals to try to slow Trump

Donald Trump is clobbering Marco Rubio in Florida, according to a new poll of likely Republican voters.

That reluctance evaporated during the final GOP presidential debate before Super Tuesday.

Cruz was favored among those wanting someone who shares their values, but by a narrower margin – about 4 in 10 supported him, while about a quarter supported Rubio and 2 in 10 supported Trump.

Ted Cruz’s campaign is on life-support.

Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz got into a heated discussion about Israel and peace efforts with the Palestinians, with each one trying to prove they were the most pro-Israel candidate on stage.

Former President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush will attend.

“Well, we’ll win in Florida now that Gov. (Jeb) Bush is no longer in the race”, Florida’s junior USA senator told CBS News’ Gayle King.

But Trump may well become the inevitable Republican after the Super Tuesday votes next week in 11 states, with 595 delegates at stake.

Trump has occupied the prime position at most of the other debates, but as the man in the middle once again, he will have a major target on his back – perhaps bigger than ever before. After Rubio answered the question, Trump accused him of lying. Trump dismissed the episode as something that happened decades ago.

“I’m supporting Rubio”, said Bob Dole.

Rubio later mocked Trump for having a “fake school”, referring to lawsuits aimed at Trump University alleging fraud and deception.

Trump was hardly silent, responding to both Rubio and Cruz: “This guys a choke artist and this guy’s a liar….”

“I know you do”, Cruz said. “Selling watches in Manhattan”, Rubio suggested.

Rubio also challenged Trump on foreign policy.

But Ellis, like so many in the audience of about 1,000, understood Trump vocalizes the anger many people feel. “It’s a fact”, Rubio said.

Mr. Trump has argued throughout the campaign that he has negotiated great deals and said Thursday that he would try to hammer out a deal that would bring an end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Analysts say any chance establishment Republicans have to stop the billionaire developer depends on one other candidate emerging as an alternative. Rubio repeatedly pressed his rival for more details.

CNN says it will start at 8:30 p.m. EST, but take that with a grain of salt. No, HE’S repeating himself.

“I don’t repeat myself”.

Trump had a comeback: “I’m the only one on this stage who’s hired people”.

Kasich made several pleas with the three front-runners to keep things civil, and at some point, bemoaning his pittance of talking time, Carson meekly asked: “Can somebody attack me, please?”
