Debbie Wasserman Schultz booed, jeered at delegate meeting

Several members of Wasserman Schultz’s senior staff were apparently strategizing on Clinton’s behalf, and the personal correspondence of the United States representative from Florida’s 23rd congressional district treated Sanders’s candidacy dismissively. But during a delegation breakfast Monday in Philadelphia, she could hardly get a word in edgewise.

Alexander said the protest happened organically and that protesters were angry that Wasserman Schultz was still at the convention. “All right, everybody. Now, settle down”.

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) – Democrats kicked off their convention Monday night amid tension between Bernie Sanders’ supporters and Hillary Clinton’s allies.

During Bernie’s first speech of the day on Monday when the crowd was booing poor Bernie, Jane Sanders leaned in and not knowing her mic was on, she whispered to her husband: “They don’t know your name is being put out for nomination”. Those damaging emails have since been released by WikiLeaks, agitating Sanders supporters at the start of the Democratic convention in Philadelphia and prompting Wasserman Schultz’s resignation, effective at the end of the week. Any time a national party starts its national convention with the head of the party having to resign under pressure, thanks to a phone call from the White House that she was fighting not to leave until the very last minute according to reports, that’s a sign that it’s going to be an unexpected few days. It may be that Hillary got pro-active and put the former DNC chair on her payroll to stop anymore scandal, which she can not afford. “I appreciate that interest”.

“I know that electing Hillary Clinton as our next president is critical for America’s future”.

Jackson said he’s hoping for Sanders’ endorsement in November. The statement was signed by DNC leaders, though Wasserman Schultz’s name was notably absent.

Elaine Geller of Hollywood, Florida, said the protest was “disgraceful”. “She’s still here; it bothers me so much”.

The challenger to Hillary Clinton is speaking later Monday at the convention.

That didn’t satisfy some Sanders supporters, who want her gone now. We’ve got this wrapped up. Others at the meeting cheered and clapped for Wasserman Schultz, who is stepping down over the e-mail controversy. Eleanor Sobel, D-Hollywood.

The new chair of the party had a hard time getting control of the crowd in Philadelphia as the convention began, booing at the mention of Hillary Clinton. Ms. Clinton promised a stark contrast to the GOP gathering, saying she planned to highlight “success stories” and flesh out details of her proposed policies.

It will be seen as an important effort to try unify the party behind Hillary Clinton to defeat Donald Trump. “This is the real world that we live in”.

The Florida congresswoman’s resignation is effective later this week, though she also stepped down from her official convention duties. And there may be more shoes to drop: Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has said US officials expect more cyber threats against the campaigns. Bob Graham said the loss of a party chair would not affect Florida’s profile given the state’s outsized role in presidential elections.
