Debbie Wasserman Schultz Will Not Open Democratic National Convention
But just when she should have been celebrating at her party’s convention, Wasserman Schultz found herself at the center of an uproar over leaked party emails that suggested Democratic officials had favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the presidential primaries, when the party apparatus should have been neutral.

The four-day homage to the nation’s first female nominee for president took an early hit with the pre-convention release by Wikileaks of nearly 20,000 Democratic Party emails, some of which showed Democratic staffers clearly favoring Clinton over Sanders in the midst of the hard-fought primaries.
After Mika Brzezinski, co-host of the MSNBC political talk show “Morning Joe”, called for Wasserman Schultz to resign because of her perceived mishandling of the Democratic primaries and the DNC’s favorable treatment of Clinton, Wasserman Schultz wrote an email to Chuck Todd, political director of NBC News, with the subject line, “Chuck, this must stop”.
But some Democrats at the convention say the party is managing the controversy admirably, and reaction to any new emails will be muted.
The Democratic National Committee issued a statement apologizing to Sanders, his supporters and the party for the “inexcusable remarks made over email”, saying the comments “do not reflect the values of the DNC or our steadfast commitment to neutrality”.
Clinton escaped one potentially ugly moment when outgoing party chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced she would not take the stage.
Clinton’s campaign, citing a cybersecurity firm hired to investigate the leak, blamed Russian Federation for hacking the party’s computers and suggested the goal was to benefit Donald Trump’s campaign.
State party spokesman Jake Hamburg says the state party worked hard to ensure impartiality during the primary and had hoped to get Sanders’ wife to participate in the Schultz event.
In New York’s delegation, annoyed Sanders supporters attending the convention in Philadelphia struggled to even secure a room to meet in so they could discuss all that’s happened. Tim Kaine, and defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump.
But when US Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont gave a full-throated speech in support of Clinton on Monday night, it made his supporters cry in disappointment. A heavy police presence and fewer than expected protesters helped authorities maintain order.
She announced Sunday that she would step down as chairwoman after the convention. But Simon and Garfunkel are estranged, much like much of the Democratic Party.
Sanders will play a crucial role in determining whether Clinton can calm the tensions. E-mails from Debbie Wasserman Schultz called Sanders Campaign Manager Jeff Weaver an “s-” and a “liar”. “Well, the winning side has to address in some manner the losing side’s concerns and her stepping down is appropriate”, said Blakemore, vice chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party.
Third, they courted wealthy donors by promising access to President Barack Obama, pointing out that big donors often demand such special favors. Does Putin want Trump to win?
On Monday, Trump told a North Carolina audience it would be “nice” for the United States and Russian Federation to get along.
For Sanders’ supporters, it was a high-profile victory.

“Now I’ve been fighting for a trade agenda for more than 20 years that puts American workers first and I can tell you that in all those years I’ve never ever seen Donald Trump”, said Brown, one of the most liberal members of the Senate.
