Debbie Wasserman Schultz wins Florida Democratic nod in House race

Despite all that, the Democratic establishment worked for Murphy over Grayson.

Murphy has criticized Rubio as caring more about his political ambitions then his constituents, while Republicans have criticized Murphy for embellishing his resume and lack of experience.

In one of the most closely observed congressional primaries in the nation, Debbie Wasserman Schultz has defeated her Democratic Party challenger, law professor Tim Canova, 57 percent to 43 percent, to win another two-year term in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District.

Canova, who teaches at Nova Southeastern University, accused Wasserman Schultz of taking large donations from the sugar industry to ignore Everglades’ pollution. “I want to give him the best birthday present ever: the gift of retirement”. Ayala beat out John Ashton for State Attorney, 9th Judicial Circuit for Orange and Osceola counties.

“I’m somewhat aware of the election returns and I know, well, it isn’t over til it’s over and, you know, I’ll start off right now by saying I’m not quite ready to concede anything yet”, he said.

In Florida’s 18th congressional district, which is now held by Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Rep. Patrick Murphy, Brian Mast emerged in the crowded field to win the district’s Republican nomination and will face Democratic primary victor Randy Perkins.
