Debuchy to review future in January

Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy has dropped his strongest hint yet that he is prepared to leave the club during the January transfer window in order to gain more first team football, according to the Metro.

Bellerin, 20, has impressed at right-back this season and in September Debuchy expressed his frustration at not being first choice in the position.

Now, The Mirror quotes Debuchy as considering an exit, following France boss Didier Deschamps stating the defender needs regular playing time to secure a spot in his squad for the European Championships next summer.

The 30-year-old made his second start of the week in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham having returned to the side for the 3-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

“I have to deal with it”, he told Canal+ when asked about being a substitute for most of the season.

“I have to stay focused until December and then we’ll see”.

“It’s up to him to see what happens in December, January”.

“You can not pretend to be at 100 per cent at global level when you play so little”.

Bellerin, who joined Arsenal from Barcelona as a teenager, missed last weekend’s north London derby due to a groin injury, as Debuchy replaced the youngster at right-back.
