Decoding Trump and Clinton’s victory speeches
“Well, if fighting for women’s health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in”, she said to a roaring crowd.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton beat Bernie Sanders in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and CT.
When factoring for superdelegates, the win put Clinton just 437 delegates away from the nomination, with a comfortable 1,627 delegates still remaining. He did indeed win more than 60 percent of the vote in DE and Rhode Island, and he came close to it in the other three contests.Trump didn’t just trounce his opponents – he convincingly undercut the justification for their collusion. He was already looking ahead to West Virginia, where he held a large rally in Huntington.
Still, there were some signs that Sanders’ campaign was coming to grips with his hard position. “We’re going to do very well with Hillary and with women as soon as we start our process against her”, Trump replied.
As you can imagine, Trump is happy with the message it’s sending to rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich.
Now the race hones in on in, which votes next Tuesday, May 3.
Cruz said the northeast may not have favored him, but upcoming states will.
“Tonight, this campaign moves back to more favorable terrain”. It also dealt a serious blow to the so-called “Never Trump” movement – an anti-Trump faction within the GOP that’s launched a campaign to stop the NY businessman from becoming the party’s nominee. In Pennsylvania, exit polls showed almost 4 in 10 GOP voters said they would be excited by Trump becoming president, but the prospect of the real estate mogul in the White House scares a quarter of those who cast ballots in the state’s Republican primary.
Depending on what the final vote tally looks like in the state, Clinton will make the path to the nomination even more unlikely for rival Bernie Sanders. And he has a chance to win a lot more. CNN projected that the New Yorker would win all of the states before 9 p.m. ET – a mere one hour after polls had closed.
The Trump camp, however, came up empty in three congressional districts. However, their names are listed on the ballot with no information about which presidential candidate they support. The final winning margins will be crucial in deciding whether he can reach the 1,237 delegates needed before the Republican convention in July.
Clinton’s leads were just as commanding, but she faced a loss to rival Bernie Sanders in the small state of Rhode Island.
The question is what tone will Sanders take as he marches to the end?
Speaking at Trump Tower in New York City after polls closed, Trump said he now believes he is the party’s “presumptive nominee” – a phrase normally reserved for candidates who have won a majority of pledged delegates in the race. She didn’t play it last time with Obama.
“Frankly if Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get 5 per cent of the vote”, he said.
It appears Donald Trump is now setting his sights on the general election showdown against Hillary Clinton.
